Aspen Racing Results
The FSC once again showed its racing prowess at the 1998 BRSC Western Carnival in Aspen. With 21 of 23 eligible skiers participating in the race, the club again won the BRSC participation award. On an individual basis, the following won BRSC awards:
- Leo St. Jean - 1st place - 60-69 male.
- Marco Wischatta - 1st place - 30-39 male
- Tina Gemmill - 3rd place, 50-59 female
- Linda Wilkinson - 3rd place - 30-39 female
The performance of the club's top three men and two women placed it fifth out of 14 clubs participating. In addition, the following NASTAR medals were awarded:
- GOLD
- Leo St. Jean
- SILVER
- Mike Bailey, Marco Wischatta, Larry Freeman, Gary Gemmill, Tina Gemmill, Bob Myse, Bob Cote, and Mike Redding
- BRONZE
- Linda Wilkinson, Lois Rose, Dave Taylor, Libby Jacoby, Scott Silkensen, and Simon Huxtable
Sunday River Race Results
FSC once again showed the BRSC what ski racing is all about at the 1998 Winterfest in Sunday River, Maine. Carl Ragland practically melted all the snow off the course as he took top honors as the fastest man on the mountain. His closest competitor was almost two seconds slower! Doug Dougherty also earned cudos as the fastest male in the 30-39 age category.
